Stripes of Fun

I love a good classic stripe, and the new striped card from Papermilldirect is just perfect for this. On this card I used:
I started by creating layering panels of the navy card and the green striped card. The navy is perfect to offset and complement the green. I matted these onto the white card blank for the perfect neutral background.
I then die cut two shapes from the navy and green. I purposely cut the green diagonal going the opposite direction from the background panel to give the card more movement for the eye. When using stripes this is always a good consideration as it gives easy and simple movement and texture to a card with very little effort!
I put these shapes together with foam tape on all layers for a little more dimension.
I die cut a banner and happy birthday sentiment. The sentiment was oversized for the banner, but this was done on purpose, the banner just makes the sentiment pop a little bit more. These were added on top of the green die cut shape.
For the final detail I added some candy dots, in a complete contrasting red plaid pattern. The pattern clashing really makes the green pop even more and contrasts wonderfully on the colour combination.
What do you think of pattern clashing? Do you like to mix patterns with card?
