Product Information
What is Pick & Mix?
This is one of the many unique things about papermilldirect! Not for our customers the old 'one colour per box' thing, no - we give you the flexibility to pick up to 8 products per box (depending on the box size). We know it will be hard to make those choices, what with the fantastic range of colours, grammages and textures!
What are your Special Offers?
Every now and then our warehouse staff need to have a good old spring clean, which is lucky for us because we get our hands on some one off specials of the same great quality that we are able to offer you at amazing prices. Hurrah for tidy warehouses!
Do you always stock the same colours?
The whites, ivories and rich cream shades should always be the same. That’s something we pride ourselves on – continuation of supply!
However sometimes those naughty dye suppliers change one of their colours slightly so occasionally a coloured shade will change. Therefore it is important that you buy enough card for your project!
What sheet sizes do you offer?
You’ll be thrilled to know that we stock all sizes from A1 to A7, 12"x12", 12"x24" and SRA 1 to SRA3.
Here is two helpful tables to tell you exactly what size is what:
Format | Width (mm) | Height (mm) |
---|---|---|
A1 | 594 | 841 |
A2 | 420 | 594 |
A3 | 297 | 420 |
A4 | 210 | 297 |
A5 | 148 | 210 |
A6 | 105 | 148 |
A7 | 74 | 105 |
We also sell SRA Sizes.
SRA stands for 'supplementary raw format A' and is slightly larger than the standard A series sizes. As shown below.
Format | Width (mm) | Height (mm) |
---|---|---|
SRA1 | 640 | 900 |
SRA2 | 450 | 640 |
SRA3 | 320 | 450 |
What is GSM and What do you use it for?
The term GSM refers to the substance weight of paper and card. GSM is an acronym for “Grams Per Square Metre’ which means how much a single sheet of paper measuring 1m x 1m weighs. The lower the GSM the lighter the paper and the higher the GSM the heavier the paper. For Example see the summary below.
80-100 gsm | Thin paper |
100-120 gsm | Medium weight paper |
120-160 gsm | Thick paper |
160-200 gsm | Thin card |
200-300 gsm | Medium weight card |
300+ gsm | Thick card |
Brace yourself - here comes a boring (but important) bit:
All of our paper and card is guillotined in-house and is cut to the allowed tolerances of the Paper Federation guidelines of ISO 215: +/-2mm for dimensions above 150mm up to 600mm, and +/- 3mm for dimensions above 600mm.
All of our paper and card is manufactured to allowed tolerances of +/-5% of grammage stated as per General Trade Rules revised 1980.
What sizes of envelopes do you stock?
Here is another ever-so-helpful table to help you decide on the ideal envelope:
Size (mm) | Uses | |
---|---|---|
C7 | 82 x 113 or 89 x 117 | Ideal for RSVPs |
C6 | 114 x 162 | Can hold an A4 sheet of paper folded in four |
C5 | 229 x 162 | Can hold an A4 sheet of paper folded in half |
DL | 110 x 220 | Can hold an A4 sheet of paper folded in three |
SQ | 146 x 146 | Not sure what you'd do with these, but they are very popular. |
