I love it when I can make a card and use up some of my ever-growing scrap card pile! For this card, I used shades of blue and used up lots of blues from the pile. On this card, I used:
- Papermilldirect Navy Plain Card
- Papermilldirect Navy Card Blank
- Papermilldirect White Hammered Card
- Papermilldirect Teal Blue Plain Card
- Papermilldirect Marine Blue Card
- Papermilldirect Royal Blue Pearl Card
- Papermilldirect Celestial Blue Card
- Papermilldirect Tintoretto Ginepro Card
- Papermilldirect Polvere Nettuni Linen Effect Card
- Dies & embossing folder
For this card, I started with a Navy card base. I layered a panel of Royal Blue Pearl card over it, which I embossed with a brick embossing folder.
I then die-cut a circle and made a frame for it using the circle dies layered.
I wanted to layer different shades of blue on the main circle, and I had lots to pick from in my scrap pile! I pulled out the few shades which I felt complimented one another and worked with the navy and royal blue embossed background. I cut my selected pieces into thin strips, not minding what width the strips were.
I layered all of these strips over the circle and once all glued down and the glue was dry I trimmed off the excess edges.
Once it was done I added my navy frame over the top which really finished it off.
I die cut my bird on a branch die from the grey card. This grey looks great against all of the shades of blue.
I cut a strip of Hammered White card and stamped a sentiment on it. Again the pop of white against the blue helps pop out against the many shades of blue.
I put everything together to finish the card. I added the birds on with some foam tape that I cut to a tiny size. I love how all of the shades of blue came together, and that I could use so much from my scrap pile!
I tried to capture some of the shimmer in the card in this photo angled towards the light in this shot. I love all the subtle shimmer on the Papermill direct card!!
