Yellow is such a fun and sunny colour, it is always like a ray of sunshine no matter where it is used. Papermilldirect make some gorgeous shades of yellow, and I have used them on this card. I used:

I wanted my yellow panels to be at slightly random angles on the white card base. To do this I angled them until I was happy with how they looked and then flipped the card and yellow panel over. I traced the white card onto the yellow panel. This gave me a line to cut out.

I repeated this step for the Star Pattern, Curry Tintoretto and Pompelmo card and when they are cut you can see how the shapes look on the white card base.

I wanted to replicate the stars on the top layer in a subtle way. Even though the Pompelmo card has a lovely texture to it, it was a little plain on its own. So I used a Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink to randomly stamp a star pattern on this top panel.

I created a sentiment banner using a label stamp set and stamped it on the Curry Tintoretto card, with a panel of the Star Pattern card for a layer.

When I put this all together with some yellow pearls it was a fun a bright, cheerful birthday card. I love the range of yellow's that Papermilldirect offer!
