Hi, Sylvia here. Today I have a tutorial showing how I made the above male cards using dies to create a background.
Materials used:
- papermilldirect white linen 250gsm, white hemp 250gsm, smooth black 250gsm and buff 260gsm card
- Sizzix nesting dies star, Sizzix mixed media dies and Poppy Stamps sentiment die
- free star stamp from Craft Stamper magazine and birthday sentiment stamp
- black Archival ink
Cut a square from white linen card and a slightly bigger square from black card. Using one of the mixed media dies cut out once or twice from the white card. Attach your die cut card over the black card creating a contrasting background.
Cut out a medium sized star and stamp it with a patterned star or any other design in black ink.
Layer up the background and buff star onto a white linen card blank, use foam sticky pads under the star for added dimension or leave it flat to the background.
Add a die cut sentiment across the star. I used my Silhouette to cut out the word star but there are many sentiment dies which will work just as well.
The above card was made the same way using just one die cut area, offsetting a smaller star and adding a white linen die cut sentiment and stamping a birthday underneath in black.
Sylv xx
