I love cards that have a real element of fun, and dimension on a card is a great way to do that. This is another birthday card to add to my stash, following my new years resolution to make more cards for my stash! For this card I used:
- Papermilldirect Navy Plain Card
- Papermilldirect Hopsack Card blank
- Papermilldirect White Hopsack Card
- Papermilldirect Gold Siro Pearl Double Sided Card
- Papermilldirect Dorian Grey Cocktail Double Sided Card
- Altenew balloon die
- Circle die - two sizes
- Altenew birthday stamps
- Foam tape
I started by raiding my scrap pile for this one and finding colours I was happy worked together, but that were a bit unusual. Using the shimmer card stock was perfect for the balloons too, it makes them look even better!
I used two different sized circle dies to cut three circles in randomly placed locations on a layer of the Hopsack card.
I then die cut balloons from my selection of colours, using up my scraps in this process. I do love using up scraps!!
I then stamped a sentiment on the panel with the circle cut outs. After the sentiment was stamped I adhered this to the card base with foam tape as I wanted lots of dimension.
I then stuck the balloons down with more foam tape, making it look like they were floating out of the circle 'windows'. For the balloon strings I used a black pen to draw these on. I like keeping things simple when I can!
The mix of metallic cards, and the colour combination against the crisp white Hopsack.
The dimension on this card is very simple to achieve and you could use any colours for the balloons to make it suit any occasion. It would even be fun to add numbers to the balloons for a special birthday!
