Hi everyone and welcome to another video in collaboration with Papermilldirect. Today we are going to be talking about card/ paper weight and sizes. This will help you to pick the right thickness/ weight of card or paper depending on which project you are doing.

Paper & Card Weights 35-60gsm
Newspaper 70-100gsm
Office Printer Paper 100-140gsm
Heavy Paper 150-200gsm
Heavy Paper/Light Card 200-230gsm
Lightweight Card 240-290gsm
Card 300-350gsm Heavyweight

Card Converting Pounds to GSM
TEXT PAPER = PAPER
1 lb = 1.48 gsm
Equation is:
80lbs = 80 x 1.48
= 118.4
Round up or down to nearest gsm
YOU NEED 120gsm

PAPER COVER PAPER = CARD
1 lb = 2.708 gsm
Equation is: 80lbs = 80 x 2.708
= 216.64
Round up or down to nearest gsm
YOU NEED 220gsm CARD

REVERSE FORMULA TO CONVERT GSM TO LBS

Text Paper/Paper = Divide GSM by 1.48
Cover Paper/Card = Divide GSM by 2.708
