Hello, Shary here and today I'd like to show you how to make a shabby chic background very simply.
You will need:
A 6x6 card blank
A card panel a little smaller than your main blank. I've used white felt card.
Acrylic paints
A washing up sponge with scourer layer
Gold perfect pearls
Embossing folder
Sentiment
Gems, ribbon and a wooden snowflake
I've made a Winter/ Christmas card but you can make any sort of card.
1. First you will need to emboss your card panel. I wanted quite a deep emboss so the card went through my embosser twice.
2. Next take a blob of your darker paint , I used blue and dab with your sponge lightly. You only need a small amount. Now wipe across the embossed card with the sponge.
3. Then take the scourer side of your sponge and dab it into the white paint. You will need to "swipe" randomly over the blue layer of paint.
4. Now to add a lovely sheen. Gently dab over the gold perfect pearls randomly. This gives it a lovely Christmassy look.
5. Choose a wooden embellishment and do exactly the same technique to it so you create a matching embellishment.
6. Now for your sentiment. Using the same white felt card I have used versamark and the gold perfect pearls to stamp the Winter sentiment. I then went around the edges with some of the blue paint. This panel was then layered onto another panel and I edged the bigger panel with the versamark and gold perfect pearls. The layers were adhered with 3D pads.
7. To add a little bling to the card I then added the ribbon and bow. I place the snowflake on top of the bow with a little blue gem in the middle. Then some more gems to the corners. Add your sentiment and there you go a lovely shabby chic Christmas card.
I hope I've inspired you to try this technique and don't forget you can try any colour and any textures.
Shary
