Hi All,
Nicole here today to share a fun technique for integrating coloured images onto your cards. For this card I used:
- Papermilldirect White Hammered Card
- Papermilldirect White Smooth Card
- Papermilldirect DL card blank in Lilac
- Bloobel Roaring Dragon image
- Distress Inks
I started off with my image printed on smooth whiteA4 card and coloured, the sentiment also printed on the smooth white card and then a DL card blank in lilac a panel of hammered white card and a deckled edged die.
I fussy cut out the dragon image using a combination of a scissors and a craft knife. I then cut down the panel of hammered white card to be a mat on the lilac card. I wanted it to look like the dragon was burning a hole in the card to reveal the sentiment, so I placed the die where I wanted this effect to be and used some washi tape to hold it in place and used my Big Shot to cut it out.
I then used Distress Inks to ink up the edge of the cut out window to give it a burnt look. I used Walnut Stain and Black Soot. I used a scrap of paper to make sure I didn't go too far. I used the die cut piece as the scrap so that it gave me wavy edges rather than straight line edges on my inked lines. I used a paintbrush with water to wet and pull some of this ink across the card to where the dragon will be standing to make it look like the smoke was coming from his nostrils after burning the hole.
I then stuck the sentiment in behind this hole. I then adhered this down onto the lilac card blank.
The final step was to add lots of foam tape to the back of the dragon for some dimension and adhere him to the card in the right place!
I hope this card gives you some fun ideas on combining dies and images on cards in some less than traditional ways. If you try any methods like this make sure to share them on our Facebook page!
