Hi All,
What is more fun than a Halloween card? A Halloween Birthday Card! I made this fun card for a friend who loves Halloween and cats and with a birthday in October, it was a perfect combination! I used:
- Papermilldirect Black Plain Card
- Papermilldirect Black Plain A5 Card Base
- Papermilldirect Intense Orange Card
- Papermilldirect Hammered White Card
- Kuretaki Gansai Watercolour Paints
- Stamp set from Skipping Stones Designs (no longer available)
- Tim Holtz cracked background stencil
- Black Soot Distress Ink
I started with the Black Plain Card Base and cut a panel of the Intensive Orange to go on top of this. On this orange panel I used the cracked background stencil to add some texture and interest to it. I then cut down a Black Plain Card panel and splattered silver watercolour ink on it for some more interest. The Papermilldirect card is not watercolour paper, but it is such good quality card you can do techniques like this without it warping or buckling.
I then tore the bottom of this panel to reveal more of the orange panel. I stamped the image onto the Hammered White card and watercoloured this. I cut some frames from the Intense Orange to make a dimensional frame and built it all up. I added some glossy accents to the pumpkin face too for some extra depth.
I stamped the sentiment on the orange card and tore around this on 3 sides to match it to the black panel. You can see here the texture the torn edges and the stencil and splatters give. It looks suitably distressed and Halloween-esque yet not too over the top shredded!
This was a fun card to make, mixing a few techniques and creating a spooky and fun Halloween themed birthday card. Do you make Halloween cards? If so show us on our social media pages!
