Details on how to win this beautiful Clematis Tower Stamp worth £9.99 at the end of the post!

Hello everyone, Barbara here today posting an interview with Lynnda Worsnop, owner of Oak House Studio in East Yorkshire. I have admired Lynnda's work since seeing her presenting some lovely stamps on Create & Craft a few years ago......Here is what we talked about :-

Q) When did you start Oak House Studio, and why? A) I started in 2006 for a few reasons....buying stamps for my shop, I was always looking for different designs and for designs that would help with teaching classes. Then my classes made some cards for the BBC 'Making Waves' appeal and I designed a lifeboat set, which we sold to raise money for the appeal, and things just grew from there.

Q) Why stamping? A) I love how versatile stamping is. I do get bored quickly with other crafts, but there is always something new to learn with stamping. As a teacher, I find stamping is both accessible AND a challenge that you can go on learning from.

Q) Your polymer is unusual, what made you choose it? A) I was looking for something with the strength and durability of rubber and the 'see-through' qualities of clear. Our polymer is laser-cut which gives great accuracy to the image and allows me to safely include lots of detail.

Q) Where do your design ideas come from? A) I come at the designs from several directions....things I see around me, a set of railings, some bathroom tiles.....sometimes I have a project I want to make, and the stamps are created to achieve that. Many of our stamps are botanical....I LOVE my garden and studied Horticulture at the local college.

Q) What is your favourite colour? A) I am known for using a lot of blue & green, but when you look outside, it's easy to see why. I do try to use other colours now and then, but always seem to come back to my favourites.

Q) What would you say is your favourite technique? A) It is hard to pick only one....but I love to show students and visitors how to heat emboss, the look on their faces is always priceless. I also love to paint my images and find it very relaxing. I get excited about new techniques and love exploring ideas, I'm currently enjoying working on fabric projects for home.

Q) And out of all your stamps, do you have a favourite? A) That's a very hard question, but think I would have to say the Clematis.....this was the first one shown on Create & Craft, and proved to be very, very popular.

Q) What advice would you give to other crafters? A) Find a good craft teacher.......it will save you a lot of money in the long term, and, of course, crafty friends are the best! Q) And lastly, do you think your Design Team are the best in the world? A) YES, definitely...... (I asked and answered this question myself, haha ....can you guess why!) Papercrafting allows me to express my creativity- sometimes my head is so full of ideas it hurts! The satisfaction of taking a plain piece of paper or card and transforming it into something vibrant and dimensional is magical. I particularly love stamps and inks- getting messy brings calm to my busy life. When times are hard, when I struggle to cope with workplace stress or ill health, I can be found at the dining table, creating. The end result varies in quality, but the process. Never fails in it's therapeutic value!

What I love most about my paper crafting is the look on someone's face when I give them something that I have handcrafted. Every card and album I have created over the years have been kept by the recipients. That is testimony enough for me. I also love learning new skills, I will try my hand at anything.

what I love about crafting is trying new ideas and techniques and then putting them together to create something unique. There is nothing so exciting as experimenting and seeing how everything comes together.there are so many techniques to try I will never be short of things to try- the problem usually is which one to use first!

I absolutely adore being creative...........I'm only just getting going really compared to others but it is a special way of putting a little of yourself into something you can give to others..........and it doesn't need to cost a fortune especially in todays climate.....HAPPY CRAFTING TO EVERYONE.........XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

I think what I love most is either the pleasure that recipients show when they first see their card, or that feeling in the creative process when it all comes together and just 'works' after struggling with a challenging design project. Every time I'm not sure of the way forward it comes to me, usually when I stop thinking about it for a while!

I love papercrafting because I can loose myself totaly in my card making and scrapbooking which in turn relaxes me. Stamping is my favourite technique because I am hopeless at drawing but you get such amazing results with stamps.

I LOVE the sense of achievement I get when I finish a card. I am not very artistic so it takes me a while to work out what I am going to do but with a really good stamp I find that I get to use it for many different cards, in many ways. I try to buy stamps that are versatile so I can do exactly this. I like to colour using different mediums and techniques and spend many a happy hour 'playing' - not everything turns out as expected but that is half the fun! Then you get to give the card to someone and see the delight on their face that you have made a unique something, just for them x

I love decoupage because, although to do a good job it takes time and a lot of patience, when you see the finished result it is so satisfying

Having recently retired, I needed a new hobby, I have now found it. It is very addictive and I just love it. I keep trying new techniques, but up to now stamping is my favourite .

What I love most about crafting is that it stops me feeling depressed about not being able to work in the last few years due to spinal injuries. Even days when my pain is bad I can plan my next card or craft project.

I love papercafting as it means I can make cards etc., that have a personal touch and are fairly unique (mine are very unique as I suffer from hand tremors. Luckily, everyone is very kind and forgives the fact that there is often more than a touch of wonkyness about my cards. things don't always turn out as I hope but there are occasions whe I surprise myself, in a good way.

It`s so important to start with a good quality card stock when making cards and you can always rely on papermill to supply this. I love to start a new project and the card and colour gives me inspiration. I especially love stamping and embossing and papermill card colours are great for matting and layering the stamped image as the colours complement each other so well. Lynnda Worsnop`s flower stamps are exquisite and would enhance any card. They are also very easy to colour with Promarkers etc.

love decoupage on a card it brings a picture to life, there are many ways of doing decoupage from stamping an image several times to buying kits of die cut images to instantly layer up. i think they are all very effective

There is something quite magical about stamping a well designed image onto blank card, and everyone appreciates a hand crafted item made with love.
