Details on how to win this beautiful Clematis Tower Stamp worth £9.99 at the end of the post!

Hello everyone, Barbara here today posting an interview with Lynnda Worsnop, owner of Oak House Studio in East Yorkshire. I have admired Lynnda's work since seeing her presenting some lovely stamps on Create & Craft a few years ago......Here is what we talked about :-

Q) When did you start Oak House Studio, and why? A) I started in 2006 for a few reasons....buying stamps for my shop, I was always looking for different designs and for designs that would help with teaching classes. Then my classes made some cards for the BBC 'Making Waves' appeal and I designed a lifeboat set, which we sold to raise money for the appeal, and things just grew from there.

Q) Why stamping? A) I love how versatile stamping is. I do get bored quickly with other crafts, but there is always something new to learn with stamping. As a teacher, I find stamping is both accessible AND a challenge that you can go on learning from.

Q) Your polymer is unusual, what made you choose it? A) I was looking for something with the strength and durability of rubber and the 'see-through' qualities of clear. Our polymer is laser-cut which gives great accuracy to the image and allows me to safely include lots of detail.

Q) Where do your design ideas come from? A) I come at the designs from several directions....things I see around me, a set of railings, some bathroom tiles.....sometimes I have a project I want to make, and the stamps are created to achieve that. Many of our stamps are botanical....I LOVE my garden and studied Horticulture at the local college.

Q) What is your favourite colour? A) I am known for using a lot of blue & green, but when you look outside, it's easy to see why. I do try to use other colours now and then, but always seem to come back to my favourites.

Q) What would you say is your favourite technique? A) It is hard to pick only one....but I love to show students and visitors how to heat emboss, the look on their faces is always priceless. I also love to paint my images and find it very relaxing. I get excited about new techniques and love exploring ideas, I'm currently enjoying working on fabric projects for home.

Q) And out of all your stamps, do you have a favourite? A) That's a very hard question, but think I would have to say the Clematis.....this was the first one shown on Create & Craft, and proved to be very, very popular.

Q) What advice would you give to other crafters? A) Find a good craft teacher.......it will save you a lot of money in the long term, and, of course, crafty friends are the best! Q) And lastly, do you think your Design Team are the best in the world? A) YES, definitely...... (I asked and answered this question myself, haha ....can you guess why!) The sense of achievement I get when I complete a wedding stationery or card order for someone and they love it is one of the best feelings, knowing you have created something special that someone will hopefully keep and treasure. I am no artist but I can be very artistic in my paper crafting and I love that feeling.

What I love most about my paper crafting hobby is colouring in my stamped images with a wide variety of markers, pencil, chalks and especially mica paints that give a beautiful sheen to my work. Then matting and layering my projects to create beautiful cards.

What I love most about my papercrafting is the sense of calm relaxation. I zone out and concentrate, put on some nice music and forget daily life. Cutting and sticking pretty paper and embellishments is so therapeutic, and it is impossible to do this hobby 'in a rush' so it forces me to take my time to relax

I love it all really but i like the fact i can stop and start projects as i like unlike some others i have tried plus there is no right and wrong eg when i make a mistake knitting its obvious but in papercrafting any "mistakes" can be alteredr covered up if needbe

i suffer from anxiety and stress and papercrafting really takes me away from it all. i love the outlet for my creativity and as my job is really boring i think my head would explode if i didn't craft!the compliments that i receive are a real boost.

I love the fact that, even though I've been papercrafting for many years, there are always new techniques emerging, which give me the chance to revisit some of my older stamps ,punches, etc.and give them a new lease of life with up to date projects

I enjoy all sorts of paper crafting & it all starts with a good quality paper & card which I purchase from you. I love the sense of achievement I get when I transform a blank piece of paper into something pretty or useful. It makes my day worthwhile & gives me a feeling of self worth. I was medically retired & feeling useless before I found paper crafting it is my "therapy" of choice.

My favorite thing is seeing the finished card with all the wonderful papers and stamps that are available. You can create so many beautiful cards. The feed back I get from Family and friends makes me feel so luck to be able to create .

My daughter was born with life limiting brain damage & requires 24/7 care. I look after her all through the night & at 6am my husband takes over so I can get some sleep. What I love about paper-crafting is that I can do it through the night (reasonably quietly), between seeing to my girls needs. It helps to keep me positive & my mind busy so I don't dwell on stuff. It's relaxing & also satisfying to give gifts & brighten someone else's day! :-)

I enjoy card making; I love the feel of card and paper. I love the variety of cards I can make and that it can be a quick 10 minute card or one that takes me 3 hours! Decoupage is my favourite and I try to make the finished card suit the recipient. I never used to think I was creative but now, after 12 years I am confident in what I do. When I'm in my little craft room, overstuffed with my stamps, ribbons, toppers, decoupage, beads, crystals, paper flowers, beautiful papers and cards (some too lovely to use so I just look at them and stroke them occasionally), - I love it! I'm in my own little world and it's amazing how quickly the day passes when I'm shut away in there with my books on tape playing in the background. My idea of heaven!

What i love about crafting is it has a huge effect on my life as i had a breakdown 3yrs ago and while in hospital one of the therapy's was cardmaking, i was hooked they had lots of different paper's & card stock, toppers, glitter, etc i completely lost myself in making a few cards. Then i got into stamping and sit for hours stamping and colouring not stop since it has also given me confidence when i have show people what i have made, i truly am addicted to buying new products one day i would like to sell my cards just to recoup some of the money but just enjoy it all even on my low day's stamp some images ready.:-)

I love being able to take a blank piece of paper or card and turn it into something beautiful, turning a seemingly ordinary stamp into a wonderful picture with shading and colour. I also love what embossing powders create, I never tire of watching it turn from a dull powder to a beautiful shiny finish.

I love paper crafting and making cards I think it is very therapeutic and relaxing and very rewarding when you see the end product, I like stamping and die cutting and embossing and also heat embossing, I do most of it for family and friends and for my local church bingo to help with the raffle and it is good to see peoples reactions to your work

I love how something as simple as paper, card and embellishments can make someone's face come alive with a smile that says "Thank you, I love it!"
