Hello! Lisa here and I have some very easy to make Christmas cards to share with you today. Perfect if you're a little behind on making them (like me!).
I have used Letraset Aquamarkers to colour the images on the cards.
To make the cards I have used:
- Papermilldirect White Linen Card
- White watercolour card
- Pink Petticoat candy cane digital paper
- Pink Petticoat digital stamps (Dear Santa and Jolly Reindeers)
- Letraset Aquamarkers
My printer ink is waterproof which is why I can use digital stamps with watercolours but if your isn't, print your images on the draft setting which uses less ink and leave to dry for a good few hours before you watercolour your image. Use water sparingly if you can, this will mean the printer ink will be less likely to bleed.
On the tip sheet which comes with the markers, it says you can use them on ordinary card. I tried this when I got them earlier in the week and I did not like the results at all.
The Aquarmarkers tended to dry too quickly on the normal cardstock so I wasn't able to move the colour around with the water up with the card pilling in some places and a rougher finish than I would have liked. I also tried using the blender pen to smooth it out (on the bear) and again, just didn't look that great. So I switched to watercolour card and rather than colouring directly on the image, I used a different technique.
I laminated a sheet of white card (so I can see the colour of the marker) and coloured directly onto the plastic surface.
I then wet my brush and picked up some of the colour from the laminated sheet and coloured onto the image stamp. It might take slightly longer to colour this way (although it probably took me around 5 mins per image) but I much prefer the results using this method than colouring onto normal cardstock.
I've kept the cards simple but you could jazz them up with twine, sequins and glitter. Once the images are coloured and dried, it's just a case of adding them just off centre on the card front.
